Who are the Masterminders?
Our Masterminders are a group of people who come together once a month to talk about a topic we’re interested in. We have video directors, VAs, travel agents, branding experts, secretaries, graphic designers, digital marketers, website builders, entrepreneurs…all sorts.
What we have in common is the bravery to create and walk on our own path, a curiosity to learn new things, and a collaborative spirit to share what we know with others.
We’re a rotating cast as people come and go, such is the nature of being a digital nomad community. But the hive mind, the family, stays intact always. Our people are wanderers, who travel wherever the wind takes them, coming back to rejoin us and share what they have learned.
We’re a giant brain bursting with ideas and information. Each of our masterminders are brilliant on their own, and when combined together we believe anything is possible.
What kind of topics do we talk about?
Our topics are based on our Masterminders. At the end of each session, someone will volunteer to give a short presentation on something they can share with the group. Check out our list of previous topics:
What happens at the sessions?
We usually meet at 7.30pm at our Calle Princesa location on the third week of every month. As we’re waiting for everyone to arrive this is a very relaxed mix and mingle time. If you’re new, this is where you can get to know us. This is also where we tuck into the free snacks and homemade lemonade (a highlight of every session!)
Then Irene, the founder of Plázida will give a very brief introduction to who we are and what we do, letting everyone know of any other upcoming events.
Whoever is leading the session will then take over and give a 15-20 minute presentation. Afterwards there is time for a Q&A with the session leader, and this tends to become a general discussion amongst everyone.
Once we’ve closed the session and helped Irene tidy up, whoever wants to goes downstairs for a drink, where we can talk about anything and everything.
We also have an optional WhatsApp group so you’ve always got us at your fingertips when you need us.
Why are they special?
You never know what you might get out of a Mastermind session, but you will always come away with something. We might start out talking about SEO, and by the end of it you’re getting advice you didn’t know you needed. We’re a diverse, multinational group from all walks of life who come together to learn, share, and always have a good laugh.
We value community over competition. We understand when it’s time to hustle and work, and when it’s time to take it slow and relax, taking care of your body and mind first and foremost. We come from all walks of life, so no matter what you’re going through you’ll find an empathetic soul among us.
Once you have become a Masterminder, you’ll also get access to our secret “family-only” events.
Is this a networking event?
Yes and no. Of course we’re all business-minded, and it’s great to meet people who may want our product or services. You’re absolutely free to talk about your services and we would never ban anyone from talking shop at our meetings. But please be aware that if you volunteer to lead a session, we do not accept sales pitches or presentations. Our group must be kept sales free to keep it a safe space for everyone.
Collaboration and knowledge-sharing must be at the heart of every meeting. To support each other, hold each other accountable, share our successes, talk about the hurdles we’re facing, and generally make a personal connection with likeminded people. We ask that you keep this in mind.
For example, if you own an email-marketing business, you could give the group the top 5 things that make a great email campaign. Or if you’re a life coach, you could run a workshop on how to remain calm under stress. Anything to grow our collective knowledge.
Do I have to be a digital nomad?
While the group is primarily for digital nomads and remote workers, anyone along the journey to remote life is welcome to join. Whether you’re searching for something that will give you your big break from 9-5 life, you’re halfway there, or you’re a fully fledged nomad, you’ll have a place at our table.
